Taglialatella Galleries x Stikki Peaches needs you to Embrace the Chaos!
Since his 2008 debut on the streets of Montreal, the anonymous artist Stikki Peaches has papered cities across the world with his bold, in-your-face style of mixed-media artwork. Rooted in the spirit of reusing and recycling, Stikki is known for a myriad of techniques combining to reveal what he considers “beautifully controlled chaos.” The artist’s vibrant compositions feature the influential figures of the artist’s childhood, including mythical characters, political leaders and cultural icons.
Throughout his pieces, the artist invites the onlooker to contemplate the effect and importance of art. His practice aims ultimately to democratize it: by taking his work to the streets and incorporating pop culture references, he distances himself from elitism often associated with the contemporary art world.
With Embrace the Chaos, Stikki Peaches has created a massive body of work, including original works on canvas and paper, as well as re-worked paintings on found objects such as traditional religious portraiture that the artist retrieved from old Italian markets during his travels
Marking a decade since his first solo show in New York City, Stikki has spent the better part of a year reflecting on the nature of what it means to speak visually to an audience with an unprecedented yet ubiquitous shared experience. His statement:
Embrace the Chaos has also lent Stikki Peaches a unique opportunity to collaborate from afar with two creators influential to the artist’s love of film, fashion, dance, theatre, and artistic exploration. Photographer Melika Dez and Kathrine Narducci have each created a body of work with Stikki, separately, by producing daring collaborative compositions without planned direction in each artist’s signature style, combined with that of Stikki Peaches.

"To be honest, when I was first approached by Stikki for an art collaboration, I was extremely skeptical because I had never met him in person nor seen his art in person; only through Instagram. On the other hand, as an actor, All I do is collaborate. On every job, I work with other people, so for me, painting is solely my creation with nobody else’s input. To share the only thing I have that gives me pure freedom and complete self-expression, that is mine alone, seemed hard to say yes to. It made me uncomfortable, but then I decided to take a chance and challenge myself. I gave up the idea of not having full control and sharing the process. We had some challenges. We live in different countries but as true artists we understood what needed to be done. We came up with what I think are really interesting works of art." -Kathrine Narducci

A note from Stikki Peaches -
"When things just work out, layers of magic unfold. This is how I feel about Melika's work.
These guerilla style collaborations have been so organix and impromptu that is has led us to creating an "editorialesque" street series of urban and performance art, captured through her stunning photographs. We do not know when or how these shoots will happen, they just do and it has been amazing to be a part of."
